PTO Board Positions
The main point of contact for the school. The President schedules all board meetings, provides agenda and leads meetings. The President supports all other board positions and helps where needed. Is present at PTO events.
Supports the President in all capacities. Room parent and Winter Party Coordinator. The Vice President also supports all other board positions and helps where needed. Is present at PTO events.
Maintains budget for all PTO funds, attends all PTO meetings, keeps accurate records of income and expenses, collects and deposits money in a timely manner, reimburses or pay expenditures in a timely manner, files annual tax return, participates and supports PTO events.
Records the minutes of all meetings, maintains records of minutes from previous meetings, takes roll at board meetings and keeps attendance records, sends e-mail to all board members of the meeting minutes, makes copies and distributes board minutes to all board members at each meeting, is present at PTO events.
The lead group motivating Folsom families to become members of PTO. Creates a plan to increase parent and staff participation. Organizes volunteers and provides committees with volunteer contact information, is present at PTO events during the school year.
Assists with the school’s major fundraiser. Provides support for this program. Collects box tops and sends them in by the box tops due date, organizes any other fundraisers throughout the year such as family dinner nights. Assists spirit wear with sales as spirit wear is a fundraiser for the school. Is present at PTO events.
Spirit Wear Committee:
Selects yearly PTO sponsored school t-shirt and any merchandise to be sold for school PTO fundraising. Obtains pricing options for merchandise with competitive bids, organizes merchandise and inventory count, enters data on website and maintains correct inventory count, delivers merchandise, and participates in all sales of spirit wear. Is present at all PTO events.
Hospitality Program Director:
A position that requires lots of creativity and organization, the program director oversees Welcome Back Week for teachers at the beginning of the school year, the Family Fun Team (Movie Night, Trunk or Treat), and the Teacher Appreciation Week Team. Other activities to plan may include the Cheers and Tears Breakfast, staff birthday celebrations, and fall dance. Is present at PTO events.

Moderates online tools and social media (website, twitter, facebook page), creates a monthly newsletter, edits and sends out communications for upcoming events. Is present at PTO events.
Contacts local businesses to seek sponsorships for school t-shirts, events and party enhancements.
Additionally, the PTO oversees and supports the Room Parent Volunteers. Each classroom requires a volunteer who serves as a liaison between PTO, the classroom teacher and parents. Sign-up in August.
Room Parent Responsibilities: PTO contact and communication with classroom parents, teacher gifts (birthday & end of the year), grade level teacher luncheon organization, Winter Party Team member, Teacher Appreciation Week reminder to parents, various yearly decorations including the Thanksgiving/Grandparent Luncheon photography backdrop and Teacher Appreciation Week classroom door decoration.
